About the role:

Clutch is looking for a Director of People Operations to join the growing People Operations team! At Clutch, you have the opportunity to work in an environment in which People Operations has a seat at the table and the business truly values strategic human resources partnership and results. You are hungry to develop yourself as a well-rounded HR professional and understand the diverse demands of this particular function in a start-up setting. You are passionate about the entire employee experience from recruiting, onboarding, development, and offboarding; you have a high standard for your work with an eye for detail and best practices without sacrificing speed; and most of all, you believe in data-driven HR decisions and are able to pivot and come up with solutions based on garnered insights.

You will touch upon all foundational areas of HR from talent acquisition, compensation and benefits, training and development, engagement and retention, workforce planning, HR compliance, workplace safety, and payroll administration, but you will also be given the exciting opportunity to zoom out to re-examine, formalize, and build Clutch’s HR practices from scratch.

What you’ll do:

  • Own, develop, and iterate on policies and processes to ensure a best-in-class employee experience.
  • Act as a trusted advisor on policies and processes, ensuring the smooth day-to-day operations that keep Clutch running effectively.
  • Lead recruiting activities, including owning the full cycle for senior-level positions.
  • Use metrics to assist leadership in workforce planning, compensation, and total rewards review.
  • Oversee HRIS, benefits, and payroll administration, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency.
  • Administer hourly and salary payroll with oversight and review from the Head of Finance.
  • Research statutory obligations and best-in-class HR practices to provide actionable guidance to leadership.
  • Conduct workplace investigations, handle grievances, and manage arbitrations as needed.
  • Lead the semi-annual and annual review processes, using compensation data to benchmark and level roles within teams, ensuring internal equity and competitiveness in the market.
  • Plan and execute exceptional employee onboarding and offboarding experiences, ensuring seamless transitions.
  • This is a full-time in-office position - you will be splitting your time between our downtown HQ at 60 Adelaide Street East and our Etobicoke production facility at 223 Evans Avenue

What we’re looking for:

  • 6+ years experience in people operations working in a fast-paced environment, preferably at a start-up
  • Thoughtful execution - you ask questions, do research, and take the time to build a strong foundation before diving into tactical steps
  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills - you are able to keep track of a variety of work streams and prioritize accordingly
  • Analytical thinker, you’re able to run reports and identify patterns through data, and present this data to senior management in a way that enables decision-making
  • Not afraid to roll up your sleeves, while keeping an eye out for opportunities to make an existing process more efficient or level up the way we do things to a higher standard
  • An eye for detail and a knack for fast but precise work
  • You are a positive, process oriented, relationship developing machine. You love to make the lives of people easier!

Why you’ll love it at Clutch:

  • Autonomy & ownership -- create your own path, and own your work
  • Competitive compensation and equity incentives!
  • Generous time off program
  • Health & dental benefits
